Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 5, 2025
1. Introduction
At NoteMap, we believe in transparency and data minimization. This policy outlines how we handle your data, specifically distinguishing between the raw files you upload and the mind maps we generate for you.
2. Service Providers & Data Handling
We use specific third-party providers to power our infrastructure. Here is exactly where your data goes:
Your Uploaded Files (PDFs, Images)
We DO NOT store the raw files you upload (PDFs, notes, images) on our servers or database. They are streamed directly to the AI for analysis and are discarded immediately after the mind map is generated.
Generated Mind Maps Only
The final mind map images generated by the AI ARE stored securely using Uploadthing. This allows you to access your history, view previous maps, and export them anytime.
We use Prisma to store user profiles and session metadata (e.g., "Map Title", "Date Created"). We do not store the content of your notes here.
Your notes are sent transiently to Google's Gemini models for analysis and image generation. Google processes this data to create your response but does not use it to train their models.
3. Data We Collect
- Account Information: Name, email address, and avatar image (via authentication).
- Generated Content: The visual mind maps created by the application.
- Usage Data: Anonymous analytics to improve app performance.
Note: We do not collect or retain your raw input files.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- Authenticate you and manage your session.
- Store your generated mind maps for your future access.
- Process payments (if you upgrade to Pro).
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
